Wyoming Valley Conference division leaders Tunkhannock and Holy Redeemer occupy the top positions in the first Riverfront Sports Super Six Softball Power Ratings of District 2 teams.
Tunkhannock (7-1) leads the Big School rankings for schools in Class 6A, 5A and 4A. The Lady Tigers are 5-0 in WVC Division 1 and also lead the ratings race for the top seed in the District 2 Class 4A tournament.
Holy Redeemer is first among Small Schools, those in Class 3A, 2A and A. The Lady Royals are 6-0 to lead WVC Division 2 and their 10-0 overall record has helped create the best rating in the District 2 Class 3A seeding race.
There are three unbeaten teams remaining in District 2, all of them Small Schools and two of them in the top two spots.
Lackawanna League Division 3 leader Mid Valley (7-0 and 9-0) is ranked second.
Abington Heights, which has the best overall record among Big Schools, is ranked second. The Comets (9-1) share the Lackawanna Division 1 lead with No. 3 West Scranton.
Lackawanna Division 2 leader Honesdale is fourth, followed by Pittston Area and Hazleton Area.
No. 5 Pittston Area is unbeaten and just a half game behind Tunkhannock in WVC Division 1 play. The Lady Patriots suffered their only loss overall to Honesdale.
Holy Redeemer and Mid Valley are followed in the Small Schools by Lake-Lehman, Old Forge, Holy Cross and Elk Lake in the third through sixth spots.
No. 4 Old Forge leads the District 2 Class A race. Sixth-ranked Elk Lake is unbeaten and leads both Lackawanna League Division 4 and District 2 Class 2A.
The softball rankings complete the initial set of Riverfront Sports ratings of spring sports in District 2. Moving forward, rankings will be updated once a week and posted on separate days with the exception of boys and girls track and field being posted on the same day.
