Wyatt Casselbury scored 18 points to lead the way for host Elk Lake, which ran away early to defeat winless Lackawanna Trail, 74-35, Thursday in a District 2 Class 2A boys basketball quarterfinal.
John Heitsman added 13 points in the win while Isaac Gesford, Noah Gesford and Brayden McMicken had 9 each.
Elk Lake led 22-7 after one quarter and 42-16 at halftime.
Brandon Kalinowski scored 14 points and Jake Antolick had 10 for Lackawanna Trail.
Third-seeded Elk Lake (11-12) advances to face second seed and Lackawanna League Division 4 champion Blue Ridge (19-3) in Saturday’s district semifinal. The Raiders, who have won the first three meetings between the teams this season, had a quarterfinal bye and will host the 5 p.m. game.
Mountain View 50, Montrose 30
Mountain View beat visiting Montrose in a game between Lackawanna Division 4 rivals who split their regular-season meetings.
The Eagles (8-15) advance to face top seed and defending champion Holy Cross (17-5).
