Mia Ashton scored 16 points Thursday night to lead the way when Holy Redeemer earned a playoff rematch by handling visiting Elk Lake, 64-36, in a District 2 Class 3A girls basketball quarterfinal.
The third-seeded Lady Royals (16-10) landed another shot at second-seeded Lake-Lehman (21-4) Saturday at 2. Lake-Lehman, which will host the semifinal, defeated Holy Redeemer in playoffs for the Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 and tournament titles.
Lake-Lehman holds a 3-1 lead in the season series.
To get a fifth shot at the Lady Knights, the Lady Royals had to stop Elk Lake’s 11-game winning streak.
Ashton and Meghan Albrecht each scored six points each in the second and third quarters when Holy Redeemer turned 15-11 game into a 56-25, Mercy Rule rout.
Albrecht finished with 14 points.
Madi Casselbury scored 11 points to lead Elk Lake.
Lake-Lehman 48, Western Wayne 22
Hailey Kline, Brenna Hunt and Ella Wilson scored 12 points each to lead the way as Lake-Lehman prevented a third straight trip to the finals by Western Wayne.
Lake-Lehman led 24-8 at halftime.
In four playoff games, Lake-Lehman has taken leads of 20-0, 17-4, 14-2 and 13-2.
Dunmore 57, Wyoming Seminary 14
Sophia Talutto scored 13 of her 15 points in the first half to lead top-seeded Dunmore to the rout and a Saturday 1 p.m. home semifinal against Mid Valley.
The Lady Bucks allowed just one field goal – a first-quarter, 3-pointer by Maddie Olshemski – in the first three quarters. Dunmore led 21-5 after one quarter 43-7 at halftime and 54-8 after three quarters.
Ciera Toomey scored 11 points in the win.
Tristan Canavan had 8 of her 10 points in the first quarter.
Olshemski led Wyoming Seminary with 10 points.
Lackawanna League Division 3 champion Dunmore is 20-3 heading into its meeting with Mid Valley (15-8).
