Lady Knights, Lady Warriors, Comets make upward moves

Competition has tightened in District 2 with three of last week’s top five teams suffering losses and the other two playing to a tie.

As a result, there are changes in all but the top spot in the Riverfront Sports Girls Lacrosse Power Rankings that were posted Tuesday afternoon.

Crestwood remains first.

Lake-Lehman and Wyoming Area move up while Abington Heights moves into the rankings.

Crestwood faced its biggest challenges to date to its top ranking, playing to a tie and a one-goal win with the two teams that now follow the Lady Comets in the rankings.

Lake-Lehman moves from third to second after winning three times by a total of 44 goals and falling, 14-13, to Wyoming Valley Conference leader Crestwood.

Wyoming Area also climbed one spot into third. The Lady Warriors are on an eight-game unbeaten streak, including last week’s 16-16 tie with Crestwood. They won their other game, 18-8, over Hazleton Area.

Wyoming Seminary suffered a shutout loss, but came back to outscore its next two opponents, 45-5. The Blue Knights slipped from second to fourth.

Abington Heights won three straight, including knocking off Wyoming Seminary, 13-7, to join the rankings for the first time.

The Comets knock out Scranton Prep, which lost both its games during the week.
