Defending Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association state Class 2A champion Wyoming Seminary and defending District 2 Class 3A champion Abington Heights open the season in the same spots they finished last year, as the No. 1 teams in the Riverfront Sports Super Six Girls Tennis Power Rankings of District 2 teams.
Wyoming Seminary is the top-ranked Small School with Scranton Prep again No. 2 and most likely to challenge the Blue Knights.
Abington Heights is No. 1 among Big Schools, the rankings for Class 3A teams.
Wyoming Seminary went 19-0 last season when it also won District 2 Class 2A and Wyoming Valley Conference titles.
The Blue Knights and Classics are followed in the Small School rankings by Dallas, North Pocono, Holy Redeemer and Holy Cross.
Dallas was second to Wyoming Seminary in the WVC last season.
North Pocono reached the District 2 final in Class 3A a year ago before dropping down in enrollment classification for this year. The Lady Trojans, the final Big School No. 2 last season, have significant graduation losses to try to overcome.
Holy Redeemer and Holy Cross start this season where they ended last season in the rankings.
Riverside, last season’s No. 3 team, is no longer ranked.
Defending Lackawanna League champion Abington Heights is followed in the Big School rankings by West Scranton, Crestwood, Wallenpaupack, Hazleton Area and Delaware Valley.
Hazleton Area is the only new team to the rankings since the end of last season.
