Crestwood avenged a pair of losses from last season while knocking off state-ranked Valley View, 20-7, Friday night in a meeting between the two most recent District 2 Class 4A football champions.
The Comets were held scoreless in the first half on their home field, but then kept the Cougars off the scoreboard in the second half.
The difference was Crestwood was able to put together three touchdowns in the second half while overcoming a 20-7 deficit.
Crestwood won the game up front, producing more than four times as many rushing yards as Valley View.
Noah Schultz provided a 100-yard game, Logan Rolles ran for two short touchdowns and Jaden Shedlock provided the clincher with a 22-yard touchdown with 2:05 left.
Rolles scored midway through the third and fourth quarters, first to tie the game, then to put the Comets in front.
Valley View scored its only touchdown by driving for a score following a Taheed Jewell interception.
James Liparulo scored from the 6 with 1:26 left in the half.
Connor Hilling took a handoff on third-and-goal then pitched to Liparulo, who went around the right end for the score.
Valley View opened the season ranked third among Big Schools in the Gaughan Auto Store Super Six Power Rankings of Lackawanna Football Conference and Wyoming Valley Conference teams on NEPAFootball.com. The Cougars were also ranked 10th in the state among Class 4A teams by PennLive.com.
Crestwood was coming off a 3-8 season in which it lost twice to Valley View by 38-7 scores I the regular season and playoffs.
The Cougars went 12-2.
