Abington Heights, Wyoming Seminary and Scranton Prep have protected their perfect records and their rankings all season.
Heading into Monday afternoon’s scheduled Abington Heights at Scranton Prep match for sole possession of the Lackawanna League lead, both teams are 8-0 and in the same position they started the season.
Wyoming Seminary won three times in the past week to improve District 2’s best overall record to 10-0 and remain as the No. 1 Small School in the Riverfront Sports Super Six Girls Tennis Power Rankings of district teams that was released Monday morning.
Abington Heights continues to hold the No. 1 Big School spot while Scranton Prep remains as the No. 2 Small School, behind only defending state champion Wyoming Seminary.
Those spots have been locked in all season, but there have been changes elsewhere in the rankings and this week the Big School rankings have been shaken up.
Wallenpaupack, which has the district’s only other unbeaten league record, moved into the No. 2 spot after beating former No. 2 team West Scranton, 3-2.
Valley View and Crestwood also slid up one spot into third and fourth while West Scranton dropped to fifth.
Hazleton Area replaced Scranton in the sixth spot.
Wallenpaupack is 7-0, a half-match behind Abington Heights and Scranton Prep, in league play. It is 8-1 overall, splitting matches with No. 3 Valley View, which it defeated in league play, but lost to in a tournament.
Crestwood has won six straight since losing its opener to Wyoming Seminary.
Hazleton Area matches Crestwood at 6-1 in the WVC.
The Small School rankings are unchanged from last week after the ranked teams went a combined 12-1 during the week.
Wyoming Seminary and Scranton Prep are followed by Dallas, Wyoming Area, Tunkhannock and North Pocono.
North Pocono, which had the only loss of the week, has only been beaten by Class 3A teams.
