Nico Ruggiero broke two long runs and Thomas Bowen scored two short touchdowns Friday night as Dunmore defeated Lackawanna Trail, 24-7, in a non-league game between ranked teams from the Lackawanna Football Conference.
Dunmore, the fourth-ranked Small School in the Gaughan Auto Store Super Six Power Rankings produced by NEPAFootball.com, won its third straight to improve to 4-1. No. 6 Lackawanna Trail dropped its second straight to fall to 3-2.
Bowen opened and closed the scoring with 1-yard touchdown runs.
Ruggiero’s 69-yard run on the final play of the first quarter set up the game’s first score on the next play.
Lackawanna Trail answered with its only scoring drive.
The game was tied when Bowen led Dunmore through the two-minute drill, passing the Bucks down the field until Max Hunt hit a 30-yard field goal on the last play of the half for a 10-7 lead.
The Bucks added two more scores in the third quarter.
Ruggiero, who finished with 163 rushing yards, went up the middle and raced through the Lions secondary for a 54-yard touchdown.
Dunmore got the ball back after a short punt and went in for the second Bowen touchdown.
