Mason Fedor pulled in two touchdown passes from Shawn Theodore and Abington Heights held Wallenpaupack scoreless into the fourth quarter as the Comets posted their first victory of the season, beating the visiting Buckhorns, 24-12, in a Saturday afternoon Lackawanna Football Conference Division 1 game.
Both teams come out of the game with 1-4 overall records, but Abington Heights is 1-0 in the division after winning its LFC opener. Wallenpaupack has lost four straight, including going 0-2 in LFC Division 1.
Abington Heights built a 24-0 lead. The Comets scored two touchdowns in the first quarter, added another for a 21-0 halftime lead, then tacked on a field goal to take a 24-0 lead into the fourth quarter.
Theodore went 8-for-13 for 137 yards passing.
Fedor had 6 catches for 95 yards while Jack Burke caught 4 for 77.
Christian Henzes was the game’s leading rusher with 55 yards on 14 carries. He ran for the other Abington Heights touchdown.
Mike Hartshorn, who was 3-for-3 on extra points, kicked a 21-yard field goal in the third quarter.
Garrett Sespico was in on four tackles for losses to lead the Abington Heights defense, which held Wallenpaupack to 58 yards rushing on less than 2 yards per carry.
Nico Bossi was in on three tackles for losses while finishing with four tackles, six assists and two broken-up passes.
Austin Boersma was in on two sacks and Kevin Schmidt had an interception.
Mark Nielsen and Drew Kiesendahl ran for fourth-quarter touchdowns for the Buckhorns.
