Both sets of District 2 girls tennis doubles semifinals will feature the top four seeds after they made it through Thursday’s action without an upset.
District 2 will conclude the tournament Friday, beginning at noon – and hour earlier than originally planned. The semifinals will be followed, after a brief break, by the finals.
Class 2A doubles teams made it through three rounds Thursday at Kirby Park to reach the semifinals.
The top Class 3A seeds made it through two matches each on the Wilkes University courts.
The top-seeded teams are Rina Hanumali-Sona Hanumali from Abington Heights in Class 3A and Leelah Farrell-Emma Cuck from Scranton Prep in Class 2A.
The Hanumali sisters will face fourth-seeded Hannah Ziegler-Glowacki from Crestwood while West Scranton’s Gabrielle Chantiloupe-Mia Butka, the second seeds, will face Wallenpaupack’s Erika Badner-Frankie Toppi.
Scranton Prep has a team in each Class 2A semifinal.
Farrell-Cuck will face Dani Konnick-Sophia DePolo from Dallas while Annie Johnson-Gisele Falzone go against second-seeded Victoria Martinez-Anastasia Martinez from Wyoming Seminary.
