Teams in the Electric City Volleyball Academy Elite Eight Power Rankings of District 2 girls teams finished strong in the regular season, setting them up well for the postseason and leading to minimal movement in the rankings.
The only move was Blue Ridge jumping up two spots from sixth to fourth, pushing two teams down one spot each, in the rankings which were released Friday afternoon.
The regular season is down to a single match between two teams outside the consideration for rankings.
Ranked teams went 15-2 in the last week of the season – 14-1 when not going against each other. Those records were 34-4 and 31-1 for the last two weeks combined.
The top four teams all landed top seeds for the upcoming district or subregional playoffs where each will also be trying to defend a title.
Wyoming Valley Conference champion Berwick completed an unbeaten regular season with four wins to reach 17-0. The Lady Bulldogs are the top seed for the District 2-4 Class 3A Subregional.
Delaware Valley and Holy Redeemer held second and third. Delaware Valley, which lost only to Berwick, is the top seed in District 2-4 Class 4A. Holy Redeemer is the No. 1 seed in District 2 Class A.
Blue Ridge, which has swept four straight opponents since suffering its only loss, is the top seed in District 2 Class A.
Dallas and North Pocono each lost once and dropped one spot to fifth and sixth.
The Dallas loss came to No. 2 Delaware Valley.
North Pocono lost outside the district, then bounced back to finish in a tie for first place in Lackawanna League Division 1 with Blue Ridge. They will have a playoff for the division title.
Lake-Lehman and Pittston Area held seventh and eighth.
