Lackawanna Trail and host Blue Ridge swept their way to victories in a Friday doubleheader, setting up Wednesday’s meeting of Lackawanna League division champions for the District 2 Class A girls volleyball championship.
Division 2 champion Lackawanna Trail pulled away in the third set of the opener to finish off Susquehanna, the team that was second to the Lady Lions during the league season.
Lackawanna Trail won by set scores of 25-19, 25-19, 25-6.
Division 1 champion Blue Ridge, the top seed and eight-time defending champion, routed Mountain View, 25-12, 25-6, 25-5.
The Lady Lions and Lady Raiders meet Wednesday at North Pocono at 5 p.m. in the opener of a championship doubleheader. The District 2-4 Class 4A Subregional match between Delaware Valley and Williamsport follows.
Lackawanna Trail’s semifinal win was its third over the Lady Sabers this season.
Blue Ridge beat Mountain View, which had eliminated MMI Prep in the quarterfinals, for the second time.
Kaelynn Brant and Foxlynn King each had six kills for Blue Ridge in the win. Brant also had three aces.
Libby Zick had 23 assists and seven aces.
Kate Spencer provided a team-high six digs.
Blue Ridge (19-1) hosted Lackawanna Trail (11-6) Oct. 29 and had no trouble with the Lady Lions, winning, 25-8, 25-9, 25-10.
The Lady Raiders are the No. 4 team in the Electric City Volleyball Academy Elite Eight Power Rankings of District 2 teams of all classifications.
