DUNMORE – Lakeland quarterback Dominico Spataro took the field with his teammates and is in uniform warming up with the Chiefs prior to their Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Class 2A state football playoff game with Executive Education.
At 6:21 p.m. while he was being introduced over public address as Lakeland’s starting quarterback for the game, Spataro was working with the full offensive unit running through plays at one end of the field near the end of its pre-game routine.
Spataro left last week’s 20-14 win over Dunmore in the third quarter with a leg injury and did not return.
About 55 minutes before the scheduled 7 p.m. game time, Lakeland coach Dave Piwowarczyk said Spataro’s status was “to be determined.”
Ten minutes later, Spataro set up near midfield and began making a series of throws to receivers in a passing drill.
Lakeland, the only unbeaten team in District 2, is the Lackawanna Football Conference Division 2 and district Class 2A champion.
Spataro has completed 61.7 percent of his passes while throwing for 2,254 yards and a 30-5, touchdown-to-interception ratio. He has rushed for 843 yards and 17 touchdowns.
