Monday’s National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I basketball schedule saw four District 2 graduates playing.

RACHAEL ROSE, WOFFORD COLLEGE WOMEN

Monday’s result
Wofford (9-3) defeated host UNC Ashville (4-6), 79-67.
Individual statistics
Started, played 27 minutes; 5/12 FG, 1/4 on 3-pointers, 7/8 FT, 18 points; 2 offensive, 8 defensive, 10 total rebounds; 4 assists; 1 turnover.
Notes
Rose posted her second double-double of the season. … Wofford opened the third quarter with a 14-5 run, capped by two Rose free-throws, to pull away from the Bulldogs. … Wofford’s nine non-conference wins are the second most in program history, behind the 10 in the 2016-17 season.

VICTORIA TOOMEY, RIDER UNIVERSITY WOMEN

Rider (3-8 overall, 0-2 MAAC) lost to host Niagara (2-8 overall, 1-1 MAAC), 74-67

Rider led, 63-62 with 3:28 remaining but a 9-0 run by Niagara proved too much to overcome. … The Broncos used a pair of 5-0 scoring runs in the first quarter that resulted in the teams being tied at 15. A basket by Toomey started the first 5-0 run. …Toomey’s five rebounds tied for team high. … Niagara won its second straight over Rider and extended its lead in the all-time series to 29-27.

Planutis was Purdue Fort Wayne’s leading scorer. … The Indiana Classic, presented by Holiday Inn PFW, included Southern Indiana beating IUPUI in the other game of the opening-night doubleheader.
