Ricky Vinansky scored 29 points and Danny Nemitz reached the 1,000-point mark for his career Thursday night as Mid Valley rolled over Lakeland, 54-31, in the third-place game of the Pete Turonis/NBT Bank Classic at Carbondale.
Nemitz entered the night needing eight points to reach the milestone.
Vinansky scored nine points and Nemitz had six in the first quarter as the Spartans took an 18-7 lead.
Nemitz, who wound up with 10 points in the game, reached 1,000 with 1:02 left in the half. He made two free throws for a 26-18 lead with the second free throw getting him there.
Mid Valley headed to the locker room with a 28-19 halftime lead.
The second half belonged to Vinansky.
Vinansky had six points in the third quarter when the lead grew to 39-25. He then scored 12 in the fourth quarter, including going 4-for-5 from the foul line, as Mid Valley turned the game into a runaway.
Joey Dunstone led Lakeland with 11 points.
Nemitz and Dunstone were selected to the all-tournament team.
Mid Valley used the win to improve to 6-2 heading into the start of league play.
Lakeland, which entered the tournament undefeated, lost its second straight to slip to 5-2.
