Kaci Kranson picked up two awards for her performance while leading the University of Scranton women’s basketball team to the championship in the Stevens Holiday Tournament.
Kranson was named Most Valuable Player at the tournament, then on Monday she received Landmark Conference Player of the Week honors.
The freshman forward from Holy Cross led the Lady Royals past George Fox, 80-47, Thursday, then to a 68-59 victory over Tufts in a Saturday championship game meeting of nationally ranked teams.
Kranson had 22 points in the semifinal.
Against Tufts, Kranson had 18 points and 7 rebounds.
Kranson is averaging 13.5 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists.
The Lady Royals are 12-0 and ranked seventh in the country among National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III teams in their first season under Dunmore graduate and former Dunmore girls basketball coach Ben O’Brien.
Sam Rajza, a graduate student guard from Holy Redeemer has started every game. She is averaging 11.3 points while leading the team in assists (3.4) and steals (2.2).
Mackenzie Steele, a junior center from Susquehanna, is a reserve on the team. She has appeared in eight games.
