GIRLS ROUNDUP: Holy Redeemer knocks off No. 1 Lake-Lehman

Jillian DelBalso broke loose for 28 points Tuesday night as Holy Redeemer went on the road to knock off defending Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 champion Lake-Lehman, 48-43, in a game between ranked teams.

The game was the first for Lake-Lehman (5-4 overall) since taking over the No. 1 spot among Small School girls teams in the Riverfront Sports Super Six Basketball Power Rankings of District 2 teams.

No. 4 Holy Redeemer (5-5 overall) matched Nanticoke at 2-0 to lead the division and ruined the division opener for Lake-Lehman.

The game was close throughout.

Holy Redeemer led 8-7 after one quarter and Lake-Lehman was up 25-24 at halftime. The Lady Royals moved in front 35-32 going into the fourth quarter.

Mia Ashton added 13 points in the win.

Ella Wilson scored 13 points and Hailey Kline 12 for Lake-Lehman.

Nanticoke 67, MMI Prep 12

Claire Aufiero and Grace Reed combined for seven 3-pointers in the first quarter to get Nanticoke out to a 31-6 lead.

Aufiero scored 16 of her 18 points in the first quarter. Reed had 9 of her 11.

Bria Kringe had MMI Prep’s only field goal, a 3-pointer in the first quarter, and went 8-for-10 from the line for 11 points.

Wyoming Seminary 57, Hanover Area 15

Wyoming Seminary opened leads of 23-3 after one quarter and 47-5 at halftime at Hanover Area.
