Jacob Hunter scored 21 of his 24 points in the first half Tuesday night as Holy Redeemer remained unbeaten in Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 boys basketball with a 64-29 romp at Wyoming Seminary.
The Royals, the No. 1 Small School boys team in the Riverfront Sports Super Six Basketball Power Rankings of District 2 teams, improved to 4-0 in the division and 12-2 overall. They moved within a half-game of division leader Nanticoke, which is 5-0, but had the night off.
Holy Redeemer led 20-2 after one quarter.
Hunter and Zach Perta then put on an offensive show in the second quarter.
Hunter scored 16 points and Perta had 9 of his 14 for a 45-13 lead at halftime.
Thomas Iskra led the Blue Knights with seven points.
MMI Prep 55, Lake-Lehman 39
Host MMI Prep moved into a third-place tie by winning its third straight since starting out 0-3 in the division and 1-10 overall.
The Preppers opened a 27-13 halftime lead.
Ryan Sones led the way, hitting four 3-pointers and scoring 23 points.
Brendon Brobst added 15 points in the win.
Corey Bean led Lake-Lehman with 13 points.
Hanover Area 64, Wyoming Area 52
Hanover Area joined MMI Prep at the .500 mark in the division by overcoming a four-point halftime deficit at Wyoming Area.
The Hawkeyes outscored the Warriors, 17-6, in the third quarter to take a 45-38 lead.
Hanover Area placed four scorers in double figures, led by David Popson with 14. Elijah Noe had 11 points while Sedrick Beasley and Luis McCoy added 10 each.
Popson had six points and Beasley five in the third quarter.
Noe then closed out the win with nine points in the fourth.
Dane Schutter had 17 points to lead Wyoming Area.
