Berwick, one of the top teams from last season, was among the winners when a new boys volleyball season got underway in District 2 Friday.
Brock Seely had 10 kills and 12 digs when the Bulldogs defeated visiting North Pocono, 25-16, 25-15, 25-12, in a non-league opener.
All three Friday matches resulted in three-set sweeps. Mountain View downed host Hanover Area and Lake-Lehman defeated visiting Western Wayne in the other matches.
Blaze Croop had 4 aces among his 13 service points for Berwick. He also had 8 kills, 13 digs and 2 assists.
Jackson Matash had 23 assists, a block and a kill; Ethan Lear had 13 service points; and Jayden Powell had 7 kills and 3 blocks for the Bulldogs.
Berwick tied for second in the Wyoming Valley Conference and finished second in District 2 Class 2A last season when it wound up No. 4 in the final Riverfront Sports Super Six Volleyball Power Rankings of District 2 boys teams.
Dave Rudat had nine digs for North Pocono.
Francesco had six digs and an ace, Robert Burrows had two kills and Aiden Dommes had three assists.
