Both No. 1 teams lost for the first time in the past week, but only one lost its hold on a top ranking when the Riverfront Sports Super Six Softball Power Rankings, which were released Wednesday at noon.
The number of District 2 unbeatens went from four to two during the week.
Tunkhannock, the new Big School No. 1, was responsible for both losses by the former unbeatens, topping Pittston Area, 3-2, and Mid Valley, 4-3, in consecutive games.
Valley View, the other remaining unbeaten, also moved past Pittston Area, dropping the defending state Class 5A champions from first to third among Big Schools.
Mid Valley, with its only loss coming by a run to the top Big School, held on to the No. 1 ranking among Small Schools.
Hazleton Area, the new Big School No. 4, and Old Forge rejoined the rankings this week.
The Lady Cougars jumped back into the rankings in fourth by winning three Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 games by a total of 47-14 during the week.
Abington Heights and North Pocono each slipped one spot to fifth and sixth among Big Schools.
Wallenpaupack fell from the rankings.
Mid Valley won its most recent game, 11-0, over Holy Cross.
The Spartanettes maintained No. 1, holding off a hard-charging group which continued to occupy the second-through-fifth positions.
No. 2 Elk Lake has a five-game winning streak by a total margin of 66-11; No. 3 Lake-Lehman has won three straight by 41-1; No. 4; Holy Redeemer has won five in a row by 77-11; and No. 5 Riverside is 7-0 by 67-7 since losing its opener.
Old Forge replaced Holy Cross in the sixth spot after the Lady Crusaders lost twice.
