Scranton Prep has turned to varsity assistant and junior varsity head coach Larry Reagan to take over as head coach of its boys basketball program.
The appointment of Reagan was announced late Tuesday afternoon on the Scranton Prep Sports Twitter account.
Reagan replaces new Keystone College men’s coach Andrew Kettel, who resigned after guiding the team to its eighth District 2 championship during his 10-year tenure.
Reagan assisted Kettel at Scranton Prep and previously at Lackawanna Trail. He also served as a coach in the JB Hoops AAU club out of Riverfront Sports in Scranton.
“I’m excited for this new opportunity and to hit the ground running with the basketball program,” Reagan said, according to the Twitter post. “I would like to thank Father Rizzo, Kris Cupillari, Christian Davis, Grey Simpson, and Mark Seitzinger for this incredible opportunity.
“I would also like to thank Andrew Kettel for giving me an opportunity to get my coaching career started.”
Reagan is a 2006 graduate of Scranton Prep. He becomes the 10th head coach in the 75-year history of the school’s boys basketball program.
The post praised Reagan for his “basketball IQ, strong sense of character and a steadfast commitment to Scranton Prep and its mission.”
