Crown Basketball shut down the NEPA Elite Coyle 17U boys offense late in the game Friday to pull out a 57-54 victory in a Hoop Group Showcase League Championship play-in at Spooky Nook Sports in Manheim, Lancaster County.
The Coyle team was trying to get into the Round of 16 in the season-long championships, which are being played along with the Summer Jam Fest. It led 29-25 at halftime with the help of three 3-pointers by Scranton’s Jason Shields.
The loss drops the Coyle team in the 17U Spooky Division where it will play beginning Saturday afternoon.
NEPA Elite has two teams entered in its final boys event of the season.
The Joyce 15U boys are playing in the championship bracket of their age group with action set to begin Saturday morning at 10:30.
