Wyoming Valley Conference girls volleyball powers meet Wednesday when Holy Redeemer travels to Delaware Valley.

Both teams are defending District 2 champions.

The Lady Royals (8-1 in WVC, 9-3 overall) are tied for second in the WVC, which is led by the Lady Warriors (10-0, 12-0).

Abington Heights (13-0) will be looking to officially wrap up an unbeaten, championship season in Lackawanna League girls tennis when it plays at Scranton (3-9) and Wyoming Seminary (12-0) will be doing the same in the WVC at Hazleton Area (5-7). Both have already clinched at least ties for first place.

Most of the best events on the day’s 49-event, 7-sport schedule are in the WVC.

Top cross country teams go against each other in cluster meets at Nanticoke and Lake-Lehman.

At Nanticoke, Dallas and Holy Redeemer will face each other. Holy Redeemer is 9-1 and Dallas 7-1 in boys. Holy Redeemer leads the girls standings at 10-0 while Dallas is 6-2.

While hosting its meet, Lake-Lehman will be facing Crestwood and Hazleton Area. The Crestwood boys are the WVC’s only unbeaten at 7-0 while Lake-Lehman is 6-1. The Lady Knights (6-1) have two tough opponents in Crestwood (8-0) and Hazleton Area (7-1).

Wyoming Area (7-0, 7-1) puts its Division 2 boys soccer lead on the line against the team it is trying to replace as champion. Wyoming Seminary is tied for second at 5-2 and 7-2.

Two teams that began the season state-ranked play in Division 1 field hockey.

Wyoming Valley West (4-2, 6-4) has recovered from a rough start to win three straight and six of its last seven. First-place Wyoming Seminary is 7-0 and 8-1.
