Scranton Prep piled up the points almost as fast as London Montgomery sprints up the field.
With Montgomery playing just the first 7:20 of the game and scoring four touchdowns, the Cavaliers ran out to a 48-point lead in the first quarter of a 55-7 rout of West Scranton in a Lackawanna Football Conference Division 2 game Saturday night at Scranton Memorial Stadium.
Before exiting the game with 4:40 left in the first quarter, Montgomery carried 9 times for 192 yards to stake the Cavaliers to a 34-0 lead.
Montgomery scored on his second carry, 30 seconds into the game when he went around the left end, picked up a crushing block from Drew O’Malley on the perimeter and scored from 14 yards out.
After adding touchdown runs of 2 and 32 yards, Montgomery went up the middle for a 67-yard score on his final carry.
Scranton Prep’s lead reached 55-0 less than three minutes into the second quarter and the Cavaliers went deep into their bench early while coasting to the win.
The Cavaliers improved to 2-0 in the division and 5-0 overall.
West Scranton, which is 0-2 and 0-6, broke the shutout in the fourth quarter.
