Defending champions Delaware Valley and Lake-Lehman are the top seeds as they prepare to try to defend titles in the District 2 girls soccer playoffs that open for most teams Tuesday.
District 2 announced the final seeds, pairings and schedules through its website Thursday.
All four classifications will follow the same schedule with quarterfinals Tuesday, semifinals Nov. 4 and finals Nov. 6. The higher seed will host in all rounds, unless it has a field that the district determines is unsuitable for hosting a championship game.
Abington Heights, which did not play last year because of COVID precautions, is the top seed in Class 3A where Dallas is also ahead of defending champion Berwick.
Lakeland is the top seed again over defending champion Montrose in Class A.
The regular-season divisional champions are split across the different classes.
Delaware Valley is the Lackawanna League Division 1 champion. The Lady Warriors, who are actually part of a District 2-4 Class 4A Subregional that includes District 4’s Williamsport, are one of three teams to have a bye Tuesday when 13 quarterfinals are being played.
Dallas, the Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 champion, is in Class 3A.
Lake-Lehman is the WVC Division 2 champion.
The only exception is in Class A where Lackawanna Division 2 and 3 champions Lakeland and Forest City are both included. Forest City, however, went 0-6 against Division 2 teams in the crossover portion of its league schedule, leaving it with just a sixth seed.
Lakeland has a quarterfinal bye because Carbondale, one of the district’s eight Class A teams, opted to not to participate in the postseason after going 1-13.
