Nanticoke pulled off the only road win in Tuesday’s quarterfinal round of the District 2 girls soccer tournament as part of a Wyoming Valley Conference sweep of the six games with Lackawanna League opponents.
The WVC teams won all six of the interconference battles by shutout, outscoring the Lackawanna, 35-0.
Nanticoke edged Western Wayne, 1-0, in Class 2A to earn a shot at top-seeded Lake-Lehman, which routed Mid Valley, 9-0.
Wilkes-Barre Area also won, 9-0, beating Scranton in Class 4A.
The other three games were all in Class 3A where Dallas defeated Scranton Prep, 5-0; Berwick blasted Valley View, 7-0; and Crestwood downed Wallenpaupack, 4-0, to join top-seeded Abington Heights in the semifinals.
Alexis Atkins scored the only goal in the Nanticoke win over Western Wayne on an assist from Talli Ormes.
Kaleah Moran had nine saves for the shutout.
Marissa Brdaric led Lake-Lehman’s win with two goals and two assists. Lillian Raczkowski added a goal and two assists.
Esabella Mendola had a hat trick from Wilkes-Barre Area. Elisa Prado and Krystral Haerrter added a goal and two assists each.
Megan MacNeely scored twice for Dallas while Elizabeth Viglone added a goal and an assist.
Kayla Fernandez assisted Rachel Whitenight on the first Berwick goal, then scored the remaining six Berwick goals.
Kennedie Huber scored twice for Crestwood.
Bryn Stiles scored the first two goals for Abington Heights on Lucy Abdalla assists, then Ally Steenback made it 3-0 on a penalty kick.
Abington Heights finished with leads of 23-3 in shots and 11-1 in corner kicks.
Williamsport downed Hazleton Area, 2-1, in the other District 2-4 Class 4A Subregional game.
Montrose joined Berwick and Lake-Lehman as the defending champions who advanced.
Tangi Smith scored four goals as Montrose routed Elk Lake, 12-0.
In other District 2 games: Holy Redeemer edged Wyoming Seminary, 1-0, while Wyoming Area routed Hanover Area, 9-0, in Class 2A; and Mountain View rolled over Holy Cross, 7-0, while Dunmore pounded Forest City, 17-0, in Class A.
Bella Granteed scored midway through the second half to lift Holy Redeemer to its victory.
Halle Kranson scored three goals and added an assist in Wyoming Area’s win. Anna Wisnewski added two goals and an assist while Hannah Fairchild had a goal and three assists.
Riley Turner and Vanessa Harvey scored two goals each to lead Mountain View.
Kaylie Zimmer scored five times in Dunmore’s romp.
