State champions
The Wyoming Seminary 400-yard freestyle relay won a Class 2A girls state title at the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Swimming and Diving Championships with the combination of Skylar Roerig, Alyssa Kelly, Aviah Dahlgren and Ryleigh Collins.
Champions
Scranton Prep won both the District 2 Class 2A and Lackawanna League titles.
Wyoming Seminary won the Wyoming Valley Conference championship.
Delaware Valley won District 2 Class 3A.

District highlights
Delaware Valley’s Sierra Gillan and Victoria Corcoran, along with Tunkhannock Camryn Rogers, each won two individual events in Class 3A.
Gillan won the 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly. Corcoran won the 200 and 500 freestyle.
Rogers won the 50 and 100 freestyles.
The eight individual swimming events in Class 2A went to four swimmers, who won two titles each – Roerig, Collins, Scranton Prep’s Lauren Schofield and Holy Redeemer’s Laura Bucknavage.
Roerig won the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke. Collins won the 200 and 500 freestyles.
Schofield won the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke.
Bucknavage won the 100 butterfly and 100 freestyle.
Delaware Valley won all three relays in Class 3A.
Wyoming Seminary won the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays in Class 2A where Scranton Prep took the 200 freestyle relay.
Victoria Watkins from West Scranton, in Class 3A, and Mia Reinert from Dallas, in Class 2A, won diving titles.
COVID Impact
There were alterations at the beginning and end of the season.
The 2020-21 season simply became the 2021 season with no competition until January.
The district meet needed to move from its usual spot at the Wyoming Valley Catholic Youth Center in Wilkes-Barre to Delaware Valley High School in Milford, which fit the bill as being both able to host the event that size and willing to take in athletes from so many different schools during the pandemic.
Fields were reduced in both the district and state championships and championship meets were shortened from two-day to one-day events for each class.
Noteworthy
Wyoming Seminary finished third in District 2, but second in the state in Class 2A, falling just short of Villa Maria from District 10, 157-152, at the PIAA Championships. … Collins, a sophomore, led Sem at the state meet with a first, second (200 medley relay), third (500 freestyle) and fourth (200 freestyle). … Scranton Prep senior Schofield finished second in the state in the 100 breaststroke. … On the District 2 level, Scranton Prep won with 279 points, over Dallas with 274 and Wyoming Seminary with 237. … Practice and preparation routines along the way were significantly hampered, but, unlike other sports, all swim meets on the conference schedules were able to be completed.
