Lily Nemeth and Molly Hubal each won four events Friday when Valley View defeated host Abington Heights, 92-86, in a Lackawanna League girls swimming opener.
Nemeth won the 200-yard individual medley and 100 backstroke. Hubal won the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly. Both were also on two winning relays.
Rina Zambetti added two individual wins and one relay victory while Nikki Chiricos was on two winning relays along with an individual win. Hailey O’Leary and Della Noon were also on two winning relays.
Phoebe Davidock had the only swimming win for Abington Heights while Abby Kirtley won diving and the Comets used their depth to make it close.
Three of the four swimming openers conducted Friday, the first day of competition in the winter season, were decided by six points or less.
Lake-Lehman defeated Wyoming Valley West, 71-69, in a Wyoming Valley Conference girls meet to end a 24-meet losing streak dating back more than two seasons to Jan. 25, 2019.
Wyoming Valley West edged Lake-Lehman, 65-64, in the WVC boys meet.
Abington Heights overwhelmed Valley View, 142-19, in the Lackawanna boys opener.
Bryan Lear and Steven Dong each won the maximum four events for Abington Heights, two individually and two on relays.
Kenny Lynch, with two individual wins, and Hudson Brown, with one individual win, had three total wins each.
Kevin Guditis joined Lear, Dong and Brown in being part of two relay wins.
