Abington Heights, Lake-Lehman lead rankings

Abington Heights and Lake-Lehman hold down the top spots in the first Riverfront Sports Super Six Girls Track and Field Power Rankings.

Abington Heights is first among the Big Schools (Class 3A) while Lake-Lehman leads the Small Schools (Class 2A).

Track and field is the only spring sport in which District 2 does not track complete non-league records for playoff qualifying purposes. The Lackawanna Track Conference schedules crossovers, but does not include them in the league standings. Crossovers and non-league meets are considered in these rankings, but because of the possibility of inconsistent or incomplete records being available, teams are listed in the Super Six by their divisional records.

LTC Division 1 member Abington Heights has not lost a dual meet in 14 years. The Lady Comets won the District 2 Class 3A championship in 2019, the last time there were spring sports.

Lake-Lehman is the Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 co-leader at 2-0.

Wallenpaupack, Dallas, Pittston Area, Scranton Prep and Valley View are second through sixth among Big Schools.

No. 2 Wallenpaupack leads LTC Division 2 and won a crossover meet against the LTC Division 1 leader, No. 5 Scranton Prep.

Fourth-ranked Pittston Area is a half-meet in front of third-ranked Dallas in WVC Division 1.

Western Wayne, Wyoming Area, Mid Valley, Lakeland and Holy Redeemer are ranked second through sixth among Small Schools.

Second-ranked Western Wayne, which competes against Big Schools as an LTC Division 2 member, was second to sixth-ranked Holy Redeemer in District 2 Class 2A in 2019.

No. 3 Wyoming Area shares the WVC Division 2 lead with Lake-Lehman.

Fifth-ranked Lakeland is a half-meet in front of fourth-ranked Mid Valley in LTC Division 3.

The Riverfront Sports girls lacrosse, boys volleyball, boys lacrosse, boys track and field and boys tennis were released earlier by NEPASportsNation.com. Initial rankings for all sports are being released daily, then each will be updated on a weekly basis.
