Saturday’s National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I basketball schedule saw four District 2 graduates playing or serving as head coach.

Here is a recap of how each did:

LEO O’BOYLE, LAFAYETTE COLLEGE MEN

6-foot-7 senior forward from Scranton Prep

Saturday’s result

Lafayette (1-10) lost at Quinnipiac (9-2 overall), 76-63

Individual statistics

Started, played 39 minutes; 5/8 FG, 2/5 on 3-pointers, 4/4 FT, 16 points; 4 offensive, 2 defensive, 6 total rebounds; 2 assists; 1 turnover; 3 blocks; 2 steals.

Notes

O’Boyle extended his double-digit scoring streak to seven games this season. … Lafayette went into halftime trailing by 11 points after a solid offensive performance from Quinnipiac. The Bobcats shot 61.5 percent from the field in the first half and 55.6 percent from behind the arc. … Lafayette clawed back in the second half with an 8-2 run sparked by a 3-pointer from O’Boyle.

GEORGE TINSLEY, MOUNT ST. MARY’S MEN

Mount St. Mary’s (5-6 overall) defeated visiting Loyola of Maryland (4-7), 51-34

Started, played 31 minutes; 3/9 FG, 0/1 on 3-pointers, 6 points; 6 offensive, 2 defensive, 8 total rebounds; 2 assists; 1 steal.

Notes

The 34 points allowed are the second fewest by a Mount St. Mary’s team since moving to NCAA Division I in 1988-89. It was also the fewest points scored by Loyola in the all-time series which started in 1910. … The Mount’s win snaps a three-game losing streak to Loyola. … The Mount held a 13-10 lead with 5:49 remaining in the first half. The defense held Loyola scoreless the remainder of the half while scoring 11 points to lead, 24-10, at halftime. Tinsley had 4 points and an assist in the 11-0 run.

Planutis went into Saturday ranked fifth in the country in 3-pointers made with 33. … Planutis eclipsed 1,000 career points during Wednesday’s win over Southeast Missiouri State. … The Mastodons beat a Missouri Valley Conference opponent for the first time in exactly nine years.

Notes

Buffalo dominated from start to finish while winning its second straight. … Four Bulls scored in double figures, led by Zakiyah Winfield, who posted her second straight double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds. … Buffalo shot 53.1 percent from the field and a season-best 80 percent from the free throw line. … “Definitely a positive momentum builder for us moving into our last game before the holiday break,” said head coach Becky Burke in a recap posted on the university’s athletic website.
