Saturday’s National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I basketball schedule saw two District 2 graduates playing.

RACHAEL ROSE, WOFFORD COLLEGE WOMEN

Saturday’s result

Wofford (8-3) defeated host Bellarmine (4-8), 69-56.

Individual statistics

Started, played 31 minutes; 3/9 FG, 1/3 on 3-pointers, 4/6 FT, 11 points; 1 defensive rebound; 5 assists; 2 turnovers; 1 block; 2 steals.

Notes

Rose led the Terriers with five assists. … Wofford executed on both ends of the floor. The Terriers had 13 steals. … Though Bellarmine outrebounded Wofford, 37-34, the Terriers forced 22 turnovers while committing just 11. … Rose scored seven points and had one assist in the first quarter as Wofford opened a 19-13 lead.

Rider was unable to close out a close game at Canisius in its Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) opener. … Tied, 62-62, with 4:21 remaining, Canisius went on a 5-0 scoring run. Rider closed within two, 69-67, but would go 0-for-3 from the field with a pair of turnovers, while Canisius converted 5-of-6 from the foul line over the final 2:30 to secure the win. … The Golden Griffins win snaps a four-game Rider winning streak between the two programs. … Toomey and teammate Makayla Firebaugh each had six rebounds to pace the Broncos.
