Friday’s National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I basketball schedule saw two District 2 graduates playing.

Drexel (14-5 overall, 6-2 CAA) defeated visiting Hofstra (8-11 overall, 2-6 CAA), 69-57

Started, played 15 minutes; 5/11 FG, 0/4 on 3-pointers, 10 points; 2 offensive rebounds.

Notes

Drexel’s Keishana Washington led all scorers with 24 points and became the second player in Drexel women’s basketball history to score 2,000 career points. … After Hofstra scored the opening basket of the game, the Dragons went on a 13-2 run in the next 4:35. It was a team effort in the span as five different players scored for Drexel leading to a 22-13 advantage after one quarter of play. … Lavelle was one of three players to score in double figures in the win.

Purdue Fort Wayne (14-9 overall, 6-6 Horizon League) lost at Cleveland State (13-9 overall, 8-3 Horizon League), 79-74

Notes

Purdue Fort Wayne’s Damian Chong Qui scored a career-high 31 points, but it wasn’t enough as the Mastodons lost to Cleveland State for the second time this season. … A 12-2 run got Purdue Fort Wayne within 75-72 with 3:04 remaining. That was as close the Mastodons got as Cleveland State scored the next four points to put the game away. … Cleveland State shot a blistering 58.2 percent (32-of-55) from the field and had five players score in double figures.
