Wednesday’s National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I basketball schedule saw three District 2 graduates playing or serving as head coach.

Buffalo (9-9 overall, 4-5 MAC) won at Miami (Ohio) (8-14 overall, 3-6 MAC), 81-76.
Notes
Buffalo led for all but 40 seconds and was clutch from the free throw line in the final minutes in the win over Miami. … Four Bulls scored in double figures, led by Re’Shawna Stone’s 22 points. … Buffalo shot 53.7 percent from the floor and 44.4 percent from behind the arc. … “I’m really happy with how we responded tonight to earn a hard-fought win on the road.” Burke said in a recap posted on the university’s athletic website. “This team has a ton of heart and grit to them and played a really connected game both offensively and defensively tonight.”

New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) (6-15 overall, 3-5 America East) lost to visiting New Hampshire (11-10 overall, 6-3 America East), 74-67 in overtime.

Faison converted a layup with 11 seconds remaining in regulation to tie the score, 59-59, and force overtime. … New Hampshire used a 10-4 run to start the overtime period and pull away for the win. … Faison’s 8 points tied his season-high and his 8 rebounds are a season-high.

Lafayette (7-17 overall, 5-6 Patriot League) lost to visiting Navy (12-11 overall, 5-6 Patriot League), 53-34.

Navy closed the first half on a 9-2 run to take a 30-23 halftime lead. … The Midshipmen opened the second half with a 13-5 run, powered by five different players scoring multiple points. … Lafayette was limited to 11 second-half points, shooting 16 percent from the field (4-for-25) and 15.4 percent from 3-point range (2-for-13).
