Friday’s National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I basketball schedule saw three District 2 graduates playing.

Here is a recap of how each did:

GEORGE TINSLEY, MOUNT ST. MARY’S MEN

6-foot-6 senior forward from Abington Heights

Friday’s result

Mount St. Mary’s (9-18 overall, 5-11 MAAC) defeated visiting Niagara (14-11 overall, 9-7 MAAC), 70-66

Individual statistics

Started, played 38 minutes; 5/9 FG, 2/5 on 3-pointers, 5 /5 FT, 17 points; 2 offensive, 5 defensive, 7 total rebounds; 1 assist.

Notes

Mount St. Mary’s Jalen Benjamin scored a game-high 26 points, including a clutch turnaround jump shot in the closing seconds to lead the Mountaineers to victory. … In the opening half, Benjamin and Tinsley combined to score all the points in an 11-0 run to give the Mount a 19-13 advantage. Tinsley capped the run with a 3-pointer with 6:20 remaining in the first half. … Leading by four points with 16 seconds remaining, Tinsley pulled down a rebound and was fouled. He converted both free throws to make it a six-point advantage with 10 seconds on the clock and the Mount held on for the win. … Tinsley’s 17 points is his second-best scoring effort of the year. He scored 18 points against Manhattan on Jan. 13

BOBBY PLANUTIS, PURDUE FORT WAYNE MEN

Purdue Fort Wayne (15-13 overall, 7-10 Horizon League) lost to visiting Northern Kentucky (17-11 overall, 12-5 Horizon League), 63-50

Started, played 32 minutes; 4/9 FG, 0/5 on 3-pointers, 8 points; 4 defensive rebounds; 2 assists; 1 turnover; 1 steal.

Notes

Planutis scored the first eight points of the game for Purdue Fort Wayne, which trailed 28-24 at the break. … Northern Kentucky used a balanced scoring attack, placing eight players in the scoring column and outscoring Purdue Fort Wayne, 35-26, in the second half to pull away for the win. … Northern Kentucky’s defense held the Mastodons to 35.3 percent shooting (18-for-51) and 21.7 percent (5-for-23) from behind the arc.

KYLIE LAVELLE, DREXEL UNIVERSITY WOMEN

Drexel (18-7 overall, 10-4 CAA) lost to visiting Northeastern (13-11 overall, 8-5 CAA), 71-64

Notes

Drexel rallied from a 15-point halftime deficit to tie the game entering the fourth quarter. Opening the third quarter, the Dragons scored 17 of the first 22 points. Lavelle led the charge with 11 points, connecting on all five of her shots. … Northeastern shot 75 percent (9-for-12) in the fourth quarter to outscore the Dragons, 27-10. Drexel was limited to 7.1 percent (1-for-14) shooting in the decisive fourth quarter. … Lavelle and Keishana Washington were the only Drexel players to score in double figures. Washington’s 33 points is her 10th game this season with 30 or more. … Lavelle earned her third CAA weekly honor as she was named the conference Co-Rookie of the Week on February 13th.
