Lavelle opened the second quarter by scoring the Dragons’ first four points to extend the lead to nine points.

Mount St. Mary’s used a strong defensive effort on Sunday to defeat Rider. … Leading by nine points at halftime, the Mount came out strong in the second half, taking a 44-29 lead with 13:55 remaining before the Broncos rallied. Rider went on a 9-0 scoring run and pulled within three points, 54-51 with 6:04 left in regulation. … Tinsley grabbed a key offensive rebound and fed Frantisek Barton for a basket with 17.2 seconds remaining and a 60-56 lead. The Mount’s Deandre Thomas closed out the scoring by making 1-of-2 free throws to provide the final margin of victory.
