Notes

Planutis led Purdue Fort Wayne with a team-high 20 points but the Mastodons fell to Detroit Mercy in the first round of the Horizon League Championship. … This is the third time this season Detroit Mercy has defeated Purdue Fort Wayne.

Faison made his first start of the season against New Hampshire. … NJIT’s Kevin Osawe posted his 10th double-double of the season and put the Highlanders ahead twice late in the game but New Hampshire’s Kyree Brown connected on a jumper with 28 seconds remaining to give the Wildcats a 59-58 lead. NJIT had one final chance as UNH missed the front end of a one-and-one with nine seconds left but were unable to get a clean look at the basket. … The Highlanders open the America East Conference tournament as the No. 8 seed.

NJIT (No. 8 seed) travels to Vermont (No. 1 seed) Saturday in the first round of the America East Conference Tournament. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
