Anderson leads Lady Royals

Abby Anderson scored 20 points and grabbed 17 rebounds Saturday when the University of Scranton went on the road to Washington, D.C. and handed Catholic University its first loss of the season, 56-53, in a meeting between nationally ranked National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III women’s basketball teams.

The Lady Royals, ranked 19th by D3hoops.com, improved to 6-1 overall by winning the Landmark Conference opener for both teams. No. 25 Catholic fell to 7-1.

Anderson grabbed eight rebounds on the offensive end and nine on defense. The Holy Cross High School graduate also had four assists while going 3-for-4 from 3-point range and 5-for-7 from the line.
