Tony Battaglia hit seven 3-pointers in the first three quarters Wednesday night, then Scranton fought off a Riverside comeback in the fourth quarter to post a 56-49, home-court victory in a non-league boys basketball game.
The Knights broke a two-game losing streak and evened their record at 2-2. They handed the Vikings their first loss in four games this season.
Riverside outscored Scranton, 13-4, over the first six minutes of the fourth quarter to cut an 11-point deficit to 50-48.
The Knights, who went 7-for-10 from the line in the fourth quarter, held on by scoring six of the game’s last seven points.
Scranton’s Dillon Lazdowsky scored 7 of his game-high 24 points in the fourth quarter, including going 4-for-4 from the line.
Battaglia finished with 23 points.
Frankie Antoniacci scored 10 points for Riverside in the first quarter, but Battaglia’s three 3-pointers kept Scranton within 18-17.
Lazdowsky scored eight points and Battaglia hit two more 3-pointers in the second quarter to help the Knights take a 34-26 halftime lead.
Matthew Godlewski led Riverside back with 13 of his 18 points in the second half.
Antoniacci finished with 13 points.
