Big School leaders shuffled again

Throughout the second half of the regular season, the Small School portion of the Gaughan Auto Store Super Six Football Power Rankings have remained constant.

The Big Schools, however, have been in a constant state of upheaval.

This week is no different in the rankings compiled by our partners at NEPAFootball.com.

Hazleton Area, Delaware Valley and Valley View each moved up one spot while Wilkes-Barre Area rejoined the rankings.

Crestwood, in the Big Schools, and Lakeland, in the Small Schools, remain in the No. 1 spots.

Crestwood knocked Berwick out of the rankings with a 56-21 rout that combined with another result to allow the Comets to clinch the outright Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 championship. Crestwood will host North Pocono (4-5) Friday night.

Hazleton Area, Delaware Valley and Valley View are up to second, third and fourth.

Hazleton Area defeated Williamsport, 28-14, and hosts Berwick Friday.

Delaware Valley beat Scranton, 28-14, putting itself in position to share the Lackawanna Football Conference Division 1 title if it can beat visiting Abington Heights (2-7) Friday night.

If they win, the Warriors will share the title with the winner of the only game between two ranked team on the Week 10 schedule.

No. 4 Big School Valley View hosts No. 3 Small School Scranton Prep. Both teams are 4-1 in the division and 7-2 overall. The winner is assured of at least a share of the title and will take it outright if Abington Heights upsets Delaware Valley.

Wilkes-Barre Area comes back into the rankings after its 35-7 romp cost Dallas a division title. The Wolfpack finishes up Saturday at Wyoming Valley West at noon.

Dallas drops from second to sixth with the loss. The Mountaineers host Lake-Lehman (3-6) Friday.

Lakeland was put to the test in last week’s 1-vs.-2 battle. The Chiefs escaped their home game against Lakeland with a 35-28 victory. They are at Mid Valley (2-7) Friday.

Western Wayne held second going into its Friday game at Honesdale.

Scranton Prep remains third, followed by Dunmore, Old Forge and Riverside.

Dunmore rallied to defeat Honesdale, 27-24, and is headed to West Scranton (2-7) Friday.

Old Forge won its game with Riverside, 17-14, to clinch at least a tie for first place in LFC Division 3. The Blue Devils can wrap it up outright at Carbondale (3-6) Friday. Riverside finishes up at Holy Cross (0-9) Saturday.
