Blue Knights, Cougars move up

Teams with unbeaten league records make up the top half of the Riverfront Sports Elite Eight Boys Tennis Power Rankings of District 2 teams.

The second set of rankings this season was released Saturday afternoon.

Dallas and Abington Heights remained in the top two spots while Wyoming Seminary and Valley View each moved up one position into third and fourth.

Third-ranked Wyoming Seminary, which suffered its only loss outside District 2, leads Dallas in the Wyoming Valley Conference.

Abington Heights is being chased by Valley View in the Lackawanna League after each posted 3-2 victories over Scranton Prep.

Scranton Prep slipped from third to fifth.

The rest of the rankings are all teams that are climbing.

MMI Prep has moved up from eighth to sixth.

Scranton and Delaware Valley joined the rankings in seventh and eighth.

West Scranton and Holy Redeemer dropped out.

Top-ranked Dallas is 5-0 and has only given up one team point, in a 4-1 win over Hazleton Area.

Abington Heights has the district’s best record. The Comets won eight straight 5-0 matches before being pushed by Scranton Prep this week.

Wyoming Seminary has only allowed three team points in the WVC where the Blue Knights are 8-0.

Valley View is 8-0 in the Lackawanna. The Cougars are coming off their biggest victory in which they handed Scranton Prep its first loss.

MMI Prep has won five straight since dropping its opener.
