Blue Ridge, Dallas, Lake-Lehman move up after district tournament

Blue Ridge and Lake-Lehman used district championships to move up.

Dallas gained ground with an impressive district tournament on the way to a runner-up finish.

All three are ranked higher in the Electric City Volleyball Academy Elite Eight Power Rankings of District 2 girls teams that were released Sunday than they were in a previous set nine days earlier.

Berwick and Delaware Valley, the other district champions, remained 1-2.

Wyoming Valley Conference champion Berwick remained undefeated while winning the District 2 Class 3A title.

Delaware Valley won the District 2-4 Class 4A Subregional title.

Blue Ridge moved up one spot to third after taking the District 2 Class A title.

Dallas and Lake-Lehman each moved up two positions into fourth and fifth.

Dallas rallied past higher-seeded North Pocono in the semifinals, then broke Berwick’s streak of 30 consecutive sets won before falling in four sets in the District 2-4 Class 3A Subregional.

Lake-Lehman won the District 2 Class 2A title.

The four district champions are each awaiting the start of state play Tuesday.

Holy Redeemer dropped from third to sixth after having its streak of 15 straight district titles snapped.

North Pocono fell from fifth to seventh.

Pittston Area, the other team eliminated during the Class 3A semifinals, remained in eighth.
