Blue Ridge lost its inside track toward hosting a quarterfinal when it fell to Western Wayne in a Lackawanna League match late in the regular season.
So, the Raiders simply went on the road and avenged the loss from 11 days earlier, beating the Wildcats in straight sets, 25-14, 25-22, 25-21, in Friday’s District 1-2-11 Subregional Class 2A boys volleyball quarterfinals.
Blue Ridge (10-3) uses the win to advance to a Tuesday semifinal match at top-seeded Holy Redeemer, the Wyoming Valley Conference champion. The Royals are 14-1.
Connor Cranage had 12 kills, 8 digs and 2 blocks for Blue Ridge.
Gerald Welsted added 10 kills and 2 blocks.
Carson Gallagher, who had 24 assists and 9 digs, and Calvin Scheideler, who had 14 digs, each had 5 kills.
Garrett Conklin led the Raiders in digs with 28 and service aces with 3.
Matt Henneforth had 14 kills and 3 blocks to lead Western Wayne (11-5).
Caleb Hoch had a team-high 20 assists while Jeremiah Pauler led in digs with 10.
Brett Schane chipped in with six digs, three blocks and three aces.
