Luke Morgan had two birdies to lead the way Thursday when Abington Heights shut out Wallenpaupack, 9-0, in a Lackawanna League Class 3A Division golf match between ranked teams that had won their league openers.
Morgan was medalist with an even-par, 36 at Glen Oak Country Club. He teamed with freshman Phillip Mathews to shoot 3-under, 33 as a better-ball team.
Robert Munley and Robbie Lucas combined for a 2-under, 34 better-ball score. Munley and Lucas each had two birdies.
Cade Kelleher and Connor Abel were the other winning combination for the Comets, taking the three points in the first foursome.
Abington Heights, the No. 1 Big School team in the Riverfront Sports Super Six Power Rankings of District 2 teams, is 2-0. No. 6 Wallenpaupack is 1-1.
Honesdale leads the division at 3-0 after an 8½-½ romp at West Scranton.
North Pocono opened its schedule with a 5½-3½ victory over Valley View.
In the other Class 3A Division match, Scranton downed Delaware Valley, 6-3, for its second straight win.
Cole Schirg, Lorenzo Domiano and Grady June all won their singles points in the minimum five holes as Lackawanna Trail handled Forest City, 8½-½ at Stone Hedge.
The Lions ran their Lackawanna unbeaten streak to 23 matches with the Class 2A Division victory.
Montrose, which is on an 18-match league winning streak, leads the division at 3-0 after defeating Lakeland, 8½-½.
The Meteors broke a first-place tie with idle Scranton Prep.
Lackawanna Trail and Holy Cross joined Scranton Prep at 2-0. Holy Cross shut out Elk Lake, 9-0.
In other Class 2A Division matches: Dunmore defeated Old Forge, 6 ½-2 ½; Riverside defeated Western Wayne, 6½-2½; Mid Valley defeated Blue Ridge, 7-2; and Carbondale downed Mountain View, 6-3.
