BOYS ROUNDUP: Bulldogs rally

Sean Murphy and Billy Hanson led a big second half that carried Berwick past visiting Hanover Area, 67-55, in a non-league boys basketball game between Wyoming Valley Conference teams.

Hanover Area led 18-15 after one quarter and 26-25 at halftime.

Murphy hit two 3-pointers in each of the last two quarters while scoring 17 of his 29 points in the second half.

Hanson scored all 13 of his points in the second half.

Murphy had 11 points in the third quarter when the Bulldogs moved in front, 44-40.

Hanson had eight of Berwick’s 23 fourth-quarter points.

David Popson led the Hawkeyes with 17 points.

Luis McCoy, who had 13 points, and Elijah Noe, who had 11, each hit three 3-pointers.

In other Monday non-league games, all won by the home teams:

Old Forge 75, Lackawanna Trail 23

Returning all-stater Joey Macciocco came out firing in Old Forge’s season opener, scoring 19 of his 30 points in the first quarter of the rout.

The Blue Devils led 25-6 after one quarter. They used a 22-3 third quarter to push the lead to 64-17.

Dominick Palma added 15 points and Anthony Mucciolo had 13 in the win.

Byron Axtell led Lackawanna Trail with 13 points.

Riverside 63, Wyoming Area 46

Frankie Antoniacci, Connor Monahan and Connor McNally all reached double figures in points in the first half and Riverside opened the 30-point lead needed to get the game into the Mercy Rule by early in the third quarter.

Antoniacci led the way with 17 points.

Monahan had all 15 of his points in the first half to help the Vikings to a 51-23 lead.

McNally also finished with 15.

Dane Schutter scored 13 points and Brady Noone 11 for Wyoming Area.

Elk Lake 58, Northeast Bradford 47

Wyatt Casselbury scored 18 points, cleared 12 rebounds and blocked 2 shots to lead the way for Elk Lake, which rallied from 4 down at halftime.

Noah Gesford also scored 18 points while Logan Ayotte had 12.

Dawson Sherman dished out six assists.

Joe Stanton scored 12 points and grabbed 9 rebounds for Northeast Bradford.
