West Scranton shot 16-for-25 from the foul line in the fourth quarter Friday night to hold off a comeback by visiting Wilkes-Barre Area and post a 66-62 victory in a non-league boys basketball game played at Scranton High School.
Chris Ogden and Tristan Lee each finished with 21 points for the Invaders, who went into a wild and lengthy fourth quarter with a 46-36 lead.
Ogden was 8-for-12 from the line in the fourth quarter while Lee was going 3-for-5 and scoring seven points.
Zack Price added 12 points for West Scranton with the help of three 3-pointers in the third quarter.
Brandon Benjamin and Kaprie Cottle led Wilkes-Barre Area’s comeback attempt.
Benjamin scored 11 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter. Cottle had all 16 of his points in the second half, including 9 in the fourth quarter.
In other Monday night non-league boys basketball games:
Crestwood 54, Nanticoke 42
Drew Sechleer and Brandon Burbank combined to score 28 of their 31 points in the second half as Crestwood won at Nanticoke.
Sechleer had 13 of his 16 points after halftime. He was 5-for-6 from the line in the fourth quarter.
Burbank made four 3-pointers while scoring all 15 of his points in the second half.
Crestwood led 11-4 after one quarter and used a 19-12 third quarter to take a 41-27 lead.
Jaidyn Johnson led the Trojans with 16 points.
Wyoming Seminary 54, Marian Catholic 51
Isaiah Stull made four 3-pointers and scored 18 points to lead host Wyoming Seminary to the victory.
Chief Montalvo added 16 points in the win.
Julius Currie scored 23 points for Marian Catholic.
Towanda 58, Montrose 50
Towanda held host Montrose to seven fourth-quarter points to lock down the victory.
Lukas Cokely scored 19 points and Sam Stashko added 13 for the Meteors.
Reading 91, Hazleton Area 57
Ruben Rodriguez scored 21 points in the first 10 minutes to lead host Reading to the rout.
Rodriguez had 16 points in a 31-10 first quarter, then had 5 more as Reading scored the first 12 of the third quarter.
Without scoring in the fourth quarter, Rodriguez had a career-high of 37 points.
