Corbin Lankford needed just 7:38 to produce a hat trick to start Saturday’s District 2 Class 3A boys soccer championship game.
Lankford and Jake Silva each had a hand in three goals Saturday afternoon when the host Trojans blanked Wallenpaupack, 4-0, for the District 2 Class 3A boys soccer championship.
Wallenpaupack, the tournament’s seventh seed, shut out the second and third seeds to get a shot at top-seeded North Pocono.
The upset streak ended there as the Trojans extended their unbeaten streak to 17 games.
Lankford scored goals 47 seconds, 2:39 and 7:38 into the game.
Alex Pagotto assisted the first goal, then Silva had assists on the next two.
Silva scored the game’s final goal midway through the second half off an assist by Jonah Yurkanin.
North Pocono outshot Wallenpaupack, 20-2, and had an 8-0 lead in corner kicks.
The Trojans host District 4 champion Danville Tuesday at 6 in the first round of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association state tournament.
Gavin Huey scored less than six minutes into the second half in Saturday’s other game to lift Hazleton Area to its first-ever District 2 boys soccer title, 1-0, over visiting Wilkes-Barre Area in Class 4A.
Hazleton Area advances to host Dallastown Tuesday at 4:45 in the first round of the state tournament.
