Blake Decker scored the game-winning goal midway through the second half and Jackson Keating made six saves Monday as visiting Scranton Prep eliminated third-seeded Lake-Lehman with a 3-1 victory in the District 2 Class 2A boys soccer quarterfinals.
Scranton Prep never trailed in the game.
The teams were tied, 1-1, at halftime on goals by Scranton Prep’s Ryan Walsh and Lake-Lehman’s Eric Hanley.
Daniel Palonis added an insurance goal for Scranton Prep with less than 10 minutes remaining.
In Monday’s other Class 2A quarterfinals: Dunmore defeated Western Wayne, 6-2; Holy Redeemer handled Riverside, 8-3; and Wyoming Seminary shut out Lakeland, 7-0.
Scranton Prep, the only Lackawanna League Division 1 member in the Class 2A field, will try to take out a second straight higher-seeded opponent from Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 when it plays at second-seeded Wyoming Seminary (13-3-1) Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
Wyoming Seminary won the WVC Division 2 title by a half-game over Lake-Lehman.
Holy Redeemer (13-5-1) plays at Lackawanna Division 2 champion and top-seed Dunmore (16-1-2) in the other semifinal Wednesday at 6.
Maynor Castro-Lemus and Tommy Clark each scored two first-half goals to lead Dunmore to its quarterfinal win.
Mark Atherton scored three goals and Colin Whitman two for Holy Redeemer.
Matt Swartz and Thomas Iskra each had three goals and an assist to lead Wyoming Seminary. They both scored twice in the first half to build a 5-0 lead.
