By Tom Robinson, NEPASportsNation.com

STATE COLLEGE – Trevor Johnson, Peyton Vancas, Levi Purnell and Josh Brown all had two of their team’s 12 hits Saturday afternoon as District 6 champion Bellefonte handled Dallas, 7-1, in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Class 4A baseball championship game at Penn State’s Medlar Field.

Dominic Capparella went the distance, reaching the pitch limit on the final batter of a six-hitter for Bellefonte (20-5). He walked two and struck out five.

District 2 champion Dallas (17-8) had a six-game winning streak stopped. The Mountaineers were stopped short of adding another state championship to the one they won in 2017.

Dallas jumped in front in the top of the first on a single by Dylan Geskey to drive in Zach Paczewski.

The lead did not make it through the inning.

Bellefonte scored twice in the first and took control with three runs in the third.

Johnson doubled twice and scored twice from the leadoff spot. Vancas batted second and scored a run. Purnell stole a base and drove in three runs.

Paczewski, Gavin Adamski, J.J. Rischawy, Dominick Zangardi and Mikey Timinski joined Geskey with hits for Dallas.
