BULLETIN: Hockenbury, Keating, Crestwood boys, Dallas girls win

MESHOPPEN – Lake-Lehman’s Nick Hockenbury and Wyoming Area’s Madelyn Keating captured the individual titles while the Crestwood boys and Dallas girls won team championships Wednesday during the Ed Narkiewicz Wyoming Valley Conference Coaches Championship Meet at the Wyoming County Fairgrounds.

Hockenbury finished in 16:36, 23 seconds in front of Wyoming Seminary’s Jack Novelli.

Northwest’s Oliver Heintzelman was third.

Crestwood won with Mason Staude and Weston Medvetz in fourth and fifth and James Modrovsky giving the Comets a third runner in the top nine.

The Comets, who shared the league’s regular season title with Holy Redeemer, outscored Holy Redeemer, 60-78, for the title.

Holy Redeemer, the other co-champion in the regular-season, lost a sixth-runner tiebreaker and finished fourth, behind Berwick, after each scored 118.

Keating broke away over the last half mile to win in 18:43, eight seconds in front of Madison Hedglin, who led Dallas to a runaway of the team title.

Lake-Lehman was again second in the team standings.

Unbeaten WVC champ Dallas had 48 points, Lake-Lehman 83 and Crestwood 86.

Five other girls broke the 20-minute mark.

Hannah Sayre from Lake-Lehman was third, followed by: Crestwood’s Ella Novelli, Holy Redeemer’s Emily Lehman and Lake-Lehman’s Alana Palmaioli.
