Scranton Prep and its punishing ground game did not stay down for long.
The Cavaliers bounced back from a disappointing opener to rush for more than 400 yards while overwhelming West Scranton, 49-0, Friday night at Scranton Memorial Stadium in a non-league game for Lackawanna Football Conference teams.
Quenten Palermo rushed for 172 yards to lead Scranton Prep. He ran for a pair of touchdowns while the Cavaliers were building a 34-0 halftime lead.
The Week Two game was a reversal from Opening Night for both teams.
West Scranton had snapped a 21-game losing streak with a 27-18 victory.
Scranton Prep learned less than a week before the start of the season that it would play the season without Penn State commit and all-state running back London Montgomery because of an injury. The Cavaliers then fell behind 33-0 in the second quarter of a 41-14 loss at Lakeland.
The Cavaliers went almost exclusively with their ground game while taking control early against the Invaders.
